Natural Celibacy Is A State Of Mind
Everything in reality is tantric, depending on the eyes you look through. Life is a divine intimacy where stars kiss the deep night. Yoga means “union,” and tantra means “to weave.” Both point to purity of intent, and purity of the heart.
Two Paths, One Truth
Watch the films Mata Hari or Dangerous Beauty to see women with a tantric flare who appear the opposite of celibate. Then watch St. Francis of Assisi to observe a celibate. What comes natural will look different in everyone.
There are many naturally celibate yogis, including the Dalai Lama, Yogananda, Ramakrishna, St. Teresa of Ávila, Ramana Maharshi, Anandamayi Ma, Amritananda, St. Francis, and St. Clare. Each has demonstrated a very advanced form of white tantra ~ solo, yet “poly” in only one sense: devoted entirely to the One, appearing in all forms. Not the neo-tantra tendency of finding “God or Goddess” in ever-new shape-shifting outfits of indulgence, dressed as spiritual pursuit ~ Cupid loves to rationalise, but purity insists on awakening out of the fog.
The Sublime Sublimation
“Poly” becomes “the One and Only, residing in all beings everywhere.” It’s hard to explain, and has to be experienced.
Celibacy ~ or what is sometimes termed brahmacharya in India ~ is not actually about how much sex you appear to have. It’s strictly about purity. Sex can easily lose its purity in relation to the sacred.
People drawn to the celibate path tend to sublimate, not suppress, their lower-chakra chi. There is a profound difference between the two. Suppression creates tension and shadow. Sublimation transforms and elevates that same energy into something beyond ordinary desire.
Sai Baba used to say that pleasure is an interval between two pains. Worth remembering, as one experiments through life ~ keep your eye on the goal.
It is an honor to commune with those inclined in the sublime direction.
A celibate, virginal, or brahmachari inclination is not about denying life ~ it is about becoming so full that nothing more is needed. The cup overflows without seeking to be filled.
For those drawn in this direction, very special things are bound to occur, like: kriya breathing, shaktipat transmission, sacred movement, mantra, mudras, other special gifts, and dietary change. Purity leads to transformation and freedom. Purity means “virgin.” One can have sex and remain brahmachari (in the celibate state) and pure ~ but it’s exceedingly rare.
Which perhaps, is exactly the point.
